Calling Features
The following calling features are available to subscribers of telephone service from Cascade Communications. Click on each item below for complete details and usage instructions.
Anonymous Call Rejection - $1.50/month*
*Subscription to Caller Name and/or Number ID required
Allows you to reject calls for which calling name/number display information has been intentionally blocked. Only calls for which the information has been blocked are rejected.
Usage instructions:
To activate this service:
Lift the handset and listen for the dial tone.
Press *77.
Listen for a confirmation tone or announcement. Hang up.
To deactivate this service:
Press *87.
Listen for a confirmation tone or announcement. Hang up.
Note: You will not be notified when or how many calls have been rejected
Automatic Callback - $1.50/month
Automatically redial the last number you dial if the called party’s number is busy. A special ringback alerts you when the called number is idle.
Usage Instructions
How to use:
- When you hear a busy signal, press and release the switch-hook*. Listen for a special tone.
- If you have already hung up, lift the handset and listen for a normal dial tone.
- Press *66.
- If the line is still busy, hang up. Your phone will check the number for up to 30 minutes.
- A special callback ring alerts you if the line becomes free. (some phones ring normally).
- Lift the handset to automatically place the call.
To cancel Callback request:
- Depress the switch-hook and release. Listen for a special dial tone.
- If you have already hung up, lift the handset and listen for a normal dial tone.
- Press *86.
- Listen for the confirmation tone or announcement. Hang up.
Note:
- To start the 30-minute clock, repeat steps 1-4 under “How to use.”
- Automatic Callback can check as many as 31 busy lines at once for you. To know which call is being completed, you must subscribe to Calling Number service.
- Does not work on 800 numbers, 900 numbers, numbers outside the specified service area, or on lines where Call Forward and some other call services have been activated.

Automatic Recall - $1.50/month
Once activated, this service allows you to automatically redial the last incoming number without having to know the number of the calling party.
Usage Instructions
How to use:
- Lift the handset and listen for a normal dial tone.
- If you were already on the phone and ignored a call waiting tone, press and quickly release the switch-hook*.
- Press *69.
If the line is busy:
- Hang up. Your phone will keep trying the line for up to 30 minutes.
- A special callback ring alerts you if the line becomes free. (Some phones ring normally).
- Lift the handset to automatically place the call.
Note:
- In some areas after you dial *69, a recorded voice will give the phone number of the call you missed and ask if you want to use the Automatic Recall feature. Just follow the voice instructions.
- Does not work on 800 numbers, 900 numbers, outside the specified service area, or lines where Call Forward and some other call services have been activated.

Call Forwarding - $2.00/month
You can program your calls to ring at another number. Each time a call is forwarded, your phone will make one short ring. It can still be used to make outgoing calls.
Usage Instructions
To activate the service:
- Lift the handset and listen for the dial tone.
- Press *72.
- Listen for the dial tone.
- Dial the number where you want your calls forwarded.
- When the phone is answered, Call Forwarding is in effect.
If the line is busy, or there is no answer:
- Hang up.
- Within two minutes, repeat steps 1-4 above. You will hear a confirmation tone to let you know Call Forwarding is now working.
To deactivate the service:
- Lift the handset and listen for dial tone.
- Press *73.
- Listen for the confirmation tone, then hang up. Call Forwarding is now deactivated and calls will ring normally on your phone.
To change the “forward to” number:
- Turn off Call Forwarding.
- Repeat steps 1-5 above to turn on Call Forwarding, entering the new “forward to” number.
Note: Dial the number exactly as if you are calling directly. For a local number, dial the 7 digit phone number. For a long distance number, dial 1 plus the area code. If you have speed calling, you may dial one of your codes instead.
Call Forwarding Busy - $2.00/month
Whenever you are on the phone, you can be sure your callers can talk with someone else or can leave a message for you. Easily turn it on or off, or change the forwarding number, anytime.
Usage Instructions
To activate the service:
- Lift the handset and listen for the dial tone.
- Press *90.
- Listen for the dial tone.
- Dial the number where you want your calls forwarded.
- When the phone is answered, Call Forwarding Busy is in effect.
If the line is busy or there is no answer:
- Hang up.
- Within two minutes, repeat steps 1-4 above. You will hear a confirmation tone to let you know Call Forwarding Busy is now working.
To deactivate the service:
- Lift the handset and listen for the dial tone.
- Press *91.
- Listen for the confirmation tone, then hang up. Call Forwarding Busy is now off.
To change the “forward to” number:
- Turn off Call Forwarding Busy.
- Repeat the steps above to turn on Call Forwarding Busy, entering the new “forward to” number.
Note: Dial the number exactly as if you are calling directly. For a local number, dial the 7 digit phone number. For a long distance number, dial 1 plus the area code. If you have speed calling, you may select one of your codes instead.
Call Forwarding No Answer - $2.00/month
Allows you to have an incoming call forwarded to another number if you do not answer after a preset number of rings.
Usage Instructions
To activate the service:
- Lift the handset and listen for the dial tone.
- Press *92.
- Listen for the dial tone.
- Dial the number of rings from 2-9 to be allowed before the call is forwarded. Dial the number where you want your calls forwarded.
- When the phone is answered, Call Forwarding No Answer is in effect.
If the line is busy or there is no answer:
- Hang up.
- Within two minutes, repeat steps 1-4 above. You will hear a confirmation tone to let you know Call Forwarding No Answer is now working.
To deactivate the service:
- Lift the handset and listen for the dial tone.
- Press *93.
- Listen for the confirmation tone, then hang up. Call Forwarding No Answer is now off.
To change the “forward to” number:
- Turn off Call Forward No Answer
- Repeat the steps above to turn on Call Forwarding No Answer entering the new “forward to” number.
Note: Dial the number exactly as if you are calling directly. For a local number, dial the 7 digit phone number. For a long distance number, dial 1 plus the area code. If you have speed calling, you may select one of your codes instead.
Calling Name and Number - $5.00/month
When you receive a call, the name and number of the person calling you is shown on your Caller ID display screen.

- If the letter “P” or “Private” appears on your display after the first ring, the caller may have blocked the display of their name and number by pressing *67 before placing the call. You can choose whether or not to answer the call.
- If “unknown name”, “unknown number”, “out of area”, or “0” appears, the caller is in an area that does not support Calling Number services.
- Available with Caller ID on Call Waiting.
Calling Number ID - $4.00/month
When you receive a call, the number of the person calling you is shown on your Caller ID display screen.
Usage Instructions
How to use:
- When you receive a call, wait until your telephone completes the first ringing signal.
- The telephone number calling you will automatically appear on your display screen.
- If you choose to answer the call, the number will remain on the screen until you or the caller hangs up.
Note:

Call Waiting - $2.00/month
You can use your telephone without missing other calls. A special tone alerts you to a waiting call, the person calling you hears normal ringing.
Usage Instructions
To answer a waiting call:
- When you are on the phone, a special tone tells you a second call is waiting.
- Simply press and quickly release the switch-hook* on your telephone. Your first call is automatically placed on hold while you are connected with the second caller.
If you choose not to answer the incoming call:
- You will hear a special tone to remind you of the waiting call.
To alternate between callers:
Simply press and quickly release the switch-hook. While you talk with one caller, the other will automatically be placed on hold. Each conversation remains private.
To end either call:
- Hang up.
- Your phone will ring.
- When you answer, you will be connected with the remaining caller.
To deactivate Call Waiting BEFORE making a call:
- Lift the handset and listen for the dial tone.
- Press *70.
- Listen for the confirmation tone.
- Dial the telephone number you wish to call. Now your call will not be interrupted by the Call Waiting tone. Other callers will hear a busy signal.
- After you hang up, Call Waiting automatically activates again.
To deactivate Call Waiting DURING a call:
- Press and release the switch-hook.
- Press *70.
- Listen for the confirmation tone. You will automatically be reconnected to your call.
- After you hang up, Call Waiting automatically activates again.
Note:
- You must have Three-Way Calling to deactivate Call Waiting during a call.

Caller ID on Call Waiting - $1.00/month
When you receive a call waiting tone, the name and number of the second person calling you displays on your Caller ID display screen.
Usage Instructions
How to use:
- When you receive a second call, you will hear a call waiting tone.
- The telephone number calling you and the name associated with that number in the telephone company records will automatically appear on your display screen.
- You can decide to answer the second call or continue with your current call and call the other caller back.
Note: Subscription to Caller ID on Call Waiting service is required for the Call Waiting ID to work.
Distinctive Ringing/Call Waiting - $2.00/month
When you make a list of special callers, your phone uses a special ring to announce calls from any of those numbers. If you also have Call Waiting, you will hear a special Call Waiting tone.
Usage Instructions
How to use:
- Lift the handset and listen for the dial tone.
- Press *61.
- Listen for an announcement telling you whether the feature is currently on or off. The recorded voice will tell you how many, if any, numbers are currently stored in your list.
- Follow the voice instructions and dial 3 to activate the feature if it is currently off, or deactivate the feature if it is currently on.
To add the last caller to your list:
- Press #01#.
To hear the phone numbers on your list:
- Dial 1.
- After the list is read, voice instructions will follow.
To add a number to your list:
- Press #.
- Follow the voice instructions. You can store up to 31 phone numbers on your VIP list.
To remove a number from your list:
- Press *.
- Follow the voice instructions to remove any or all of those numbers.
To hear instructions again:
- Dial 0.
Note:
- Press 1, 0, #, or * to override the voice instructions.
- The list you create is separate from any other lists you may be using for Selective Call Acceptance, Selective Call Forwarding, and similar services.
Per-Call Blocking - No Charge
By dialing a code before you place a call, you can prevent your phone number from appearing on the Caller ID display of the person receiving your call.
Usage Instructions
How to use:
- Lift the handset and listen for the dial tone.
- Press *67.
- Dial the number you are calling as usual.
- The person you have called will not be able to see your number display on their telephone display screen. Instead, a “P” or “Private” will be displayed.
Notes:
- You must dial *67 before each call you place otherwise your phone number will be released to the person receiving your call.
- If you have requested Per-Line Blocking from your telephone company, you do not need to dial a code to block your number each time. Your number will always appear as “Private”. To override Per-Line Blocking on an individual call, dial *67 before placing the call.
Per-Line Blocking - $3.00/month
Provides a permanent private indicator on your phone line. Contact us for more information.
Selective Call Acceptance - $2.00/month
When this service is activated, your phone will only accept calls from those in your Selective Call Acceptance list. All others will hear an announcement that you are not accepting calls at this time.
Usage Instructions
To activate this service:
- Lift the handset and listen for the dial tone.
- Press *64.
- Listen for an announcement telling you whether the feature is currently on or off. The recorded voice will then tell you how many, if any, numbers are currently stored in your acceptance list.
- Follow the voice instructions and dial 3 to activate the feature if it is currently off, or deactivate the feature if it is currently on.
To add the last caller to your acceptance list:
- Press #01#.
To hear the phone numbers on your list:
- Dial 1.
- After the list is announced, voice instructions will follow.
To add a number to your list:
- Press #.
- Follow the voice instructions. You can store up to 31 phone numbers in your acceptance list.
To remove a number from your list:
- Press *.
- Follow the voice instructions to remove any or all of the numbers from your acceptance list.
To hear instructions again:
- Dial 0.
Note:
- Press 1, 0, #, or * at anytime to override the voice instructions.
- This list is separate from any other lists you may be using for Distinctive Ringing/Call Waiting, Selective Call Forwarding, Selective Call Rejection, and similar services.
Selective Call Forwarding - $2.00/month
Specify a special list of a maximum of 32 telephone numbers. Incoming calls placed to the customer from telephone numbers on this list will automatically be forwarded to a predefined telephone number. All other calls will be handled normally.
Usage Instructions
To activate this service:
- Lift the handset and listen for the dial tone.
- Press *63.
- Listen for an announcement telling you whether the feature is currently stored in your forward list.
- Follow the voice instructions and dial 3 to activate the feature if it is currently OFF or to deactivate the feature if it is currently ON.
To add the last caller to your forward list:
- Press #01#.
To enter your forward to number:
- The first time you activate the service, you will be asked to enter the number you would like your special calls forwarded to.
- From then on, the system will simply remind you of the current forward to number.
- If the current number is correct, dial 1.
- If you wish to change the current forward to number, dial 0 and then follow the voice instructions.
To hear the phone numbers on your list:
- Dial 1.
- After the list is read, voice instructions will follow.
To add a number to your list:
- Press #.
- Follow the voice instructions you will hear. You can store up to 32 phone numbers on your forward list.
To remove a number from your list:
- Press *.
- Follow the voice instructions to remove any or all of those numbers from your forward list.
To hear instructions again:
- Dial 0.
Note:
- You may press 1, 0, #, or * at any time rather than waiting for the voice instructions.
- The list you create here is separate from any other lists you may be using for Distinctive Ringing/Call Waiting, Selective Call Acceptance, Selective Call Rejection, and similar services.
- This service can work with Call Forwarding (all calls). Numbers on your preferred list will follow you to your Selective Call Forwarding number. All other calls will be routed to your regular Call Forwarding number.
Selective Call Rejection - $2.00/month
When this service is activated, any callers in your Selective Call Rejection list will hear an announcement that you are not accepting calls at this time. All other calls will ring through as usual.
Usage Instructions
To activate this service:
- Lift the handset and listen for the dial tone.
- Press *60.
- Listen for an announcement telling you whether the feature is currently on or off. The recorded voice will then tell you how many, if any, numbers are currently stored in your rejection list.
- Follow the voice instructions and dial 3 to activate the feature if it is currently off, or deactivate the feature if it is currently on.
To add the last caller to your rejection list:
- Press #01#.
To hear the phone numbers on your list:
- Dial 1.
- After the list is announced, voice instructions will follow.
To add a number to your list:
- Press #.
- Follow the voice instructions. You can store up to 31 phone numbers in your rejection list.
To remove a number from your list:
- Press *.
- Follow the voice instructions to remove any or all of the numbers from your rejection list.
To hear instructions again:
- Dial 0.
Note:

Speed Calling 8 - $1.00/month
Quickly dial eight of your most frequently called numbers by dialing just one digit after entering up to eight telephone numbers, local or long distance, into your Speed Calling list.
Usage Instructions
To program your Speed Calling 8 list:
- Lift the handset and listen for the dial tone.
- Press *74.
- Listen for the dial tone.
- Select a one digit speed code from 2-9.
- Dial the telephone number you wish to assign to that speed code. For long distance calls, be sure to include 1 plus the area code.
- Press the # key.
- Listen for the confirmation tone.
To call someone on your Speed Call list:
- Lift the handset and listen for the dial tone.
- Dial the one digit speed code, then press the # key.
To change your Speed Calling list:
- Lift the handset and listen for the dial tone.
- Press *74.
- Listen for the dial tone.
- Dial the one digit speed code you wish to change.
- Listen for the cancellation tone, then the dial tone. Repeat steps 4-7 above to reprogram your Speed Calling 8 list.
Speed Calling 30 - $1.00/month
Quickly dial 30 of your most frequently called numbers by dialing just two digits after entering up to thirty telephone numbers, local or long distance, into your Speed Calling list.
Usage Instructions
To program your Speed Calling 30 list:
- Lift the handset and listen for the dial tone.
Press *75. - Listen for the dial tone.
Enter a two digit speed code from 20-49. - Dial the telephone number you wish to assign to that speed code. For long distance calls, be sure to include 1 plus the area code.
- Press the # key.
- Listen for the confirmation tone.
To call someone on your Speed Call list:
- Lift the handset and listen for the dial tone.
- Dial the two digit speed code, then press the # key.
To change your Speed Calling list:
- Lift the handset and listen for the dial tone.
- Press *75.
- Listen for the dial tone.
- Dial the two digit speed code you wish to change.
- Listen for the cancellation tone, then the dial tone. Repeat steps 4-7 above to reprogram your Speed Calling 30 list.
Teen Line - $3.00/month
Provides a distinctive ringing code on incoming calls using one individual access line. The distinctive ringing code is achieved by assigning an additional telephone number to the access line. Contact us for more information.
Telemarketer Call Screening - $3.00/month
Block all unwanted calls including telemarketers.
Usage Instructions
How to use:
- Dial *98 from your phone.
- Main Menu
- Press 1 to add a number to your blocked list
- Press 2 to remove a number from your blocked list
- Press 3 to remove all numbers from your blocked list
- Press 4 to add a number to your known list
- Press 5 to change the language of your menu options
- Press 6 to turn the entire service on
- Press 7 to turn the entire service off
- Press 8 to block calls from private callers
- Press 9 to allow calls from private callers
Note: If you wish to add the last caller’s number to your blocked list, simply hang up momentarily and then dial *99.
Three Way Calling - $2.00/month
When you are talking with someone, you can add a third person to the call. It is easy to coordinate family schedules or hold a telephone conference with business colleagues.
Usage Instructions
To add a third person to the call:
- Press and quickly release the switch-hook* to place the first person on hold.
- Listen for the dial tone.
- Dial the third person’s phone number. If you have speed calling, you can dial that code.
- When the third person answers, you can talk privately before making it a three-way conversation.
- To make the three-way connection, press and quickly release the switch-hook. You can now talk with both people at the same time.
To cancel the Three-Way connection:
- If the third person did not answer or you wish to disconnect them, just press and quickly release the switch-hook. You will be reconnected to the person holding.
- If either of the two people hang up, you can continue talking with the remaining person.
To end the call completely:
- Simply hang up.

Voicemail - $5.95/month
Access your phone messages from home or when you are away. It is simple, convenient, and reliable.
Warm Line - $2.00/month
Allows you to establish a switched connection to a predetermined number if the customer does not dial a number within a specified length of time after going off-hook. When your telephone goes off-hook and dialing begins within a specified time delay period, the call will proceed normally as dialed. If dialing has not started before the end of the predefined time delay period, a predetermined stored number is automatically dialed by the telephone company. Contact us for more information.
