Calling Features

The following calling features are available to subscribers of telephone service from Cascade Communications. Click on each item below for complete details and usage instructions.

Anonymous Call Rejection - $1.50/month*

*Subscription to Caller ID required

Once activated, callers who block their Caller ID (showing as “Private,” “Anonymous,” or “Unknown”) will hear a message telling them to hang up and redial with their number visible.

How to Turn ON Anonymous Call Rejection

  1. Pick up your landline handset.
  2. Dial *77
  3. Listen for a confirmation tone or recorded message saying the feature is activated.
  4. Hang up.

How to Turn OFF Anonymous Call Rejection

  1. Pick up your landline handset.
  2. Dial *87
  3. Wait for the confirmation tone or recorded message.
  4. Hang up.
Automatic Recall - $1.50/month

Once activated, this service allows you to automatically redial the last incoming number without having to know the number of the calling party.

How to use:

  • Lift the handset and listen for a normal dial tone.
  • Press *69.

If the line is busy:

  • Hang up. Your phone will keep trying the line for up to 30 minutes.
  • A special callback ring alerts you if the line becomes free. (Some phones ring normally).
  • Lift the handset to automatically place the call.

Note:

  • Does not work on 800 numbers, 900 numbers, or lines where Call Forward and some other call services have been activated.
Call Forwarding - $2.00/month

Call Forward Always automatically forwards all incoming calls to a number you choose. Your phone will not ring while this feature is activated.

Usage Instructions

To activate the service:

  • Lift the handset and listen for the dial tone.
  • Dial *72.
  • When prompted, enter the telephone number you wish to forward to .
  • Listen for confirmation, then hang up. Call forwarding is in effect.

To deactivate the service:

  • Lift the handset and listen for dial tone.
  • Dial *73.
  • Listen for confirmation, then hang up. Call Forwarding is now deactivated. Your phone will ring normally.

To change the “forward to” number:

  • Lift the handset and listen for the dial tone.
  • Dial *72 followed by the telephone number you want to call forward to. 
  • Listen for confirmation, then hang up. Call forwarding is in effect.

Note:

  • Dial the number exactly as if you are calling directly. For a local number, dial the 7-digit phone number. For a long distance number, dial 1 plus the area code.
  • Long distance charges may apply if forwarding to a long-distance number.
Call Forwarding Busy - $2.00/month

Call Forward Busy automatically forwards incoming calls to another number only when you are already on the phone.

Usage Instructions

To activate the service:

  • Lift the handset and listen for the dial tone.
  • Dial *90.
  • When prompted, enter the telephone number you wish to call forward busy to.
  • Listen for confirmation, then hang up. Call forward busy is in effect.

To deactivate the service:

  • Lift the handset and listen for the dial tone.
  • Dial *91.
  • Listen confirmation, then hang up. Call Forwarding Busy is now off.

To change the “forward to” number:

  • Lift the handset and listen for the dial tone.
  • Dial *90 followed by the telephone number you wish to call forward busy to.
  • Listen for confirmation, then hang up. Call forward busy is in effect.

Note:

  • Dial the number exactly as if you are calling directly. For a local number, dial the 7-digit phone number. For a long distance number, dial 1 plus the area code.
  •  Long distance charges may apply if forwarding to a long-distance number.
  • If you also have Call Waiting, incoming callers may hear a call waiting tone instead of forwarding.
Call Forwarding No Answer - $2.00/month

Call Forward No Answer automatically forwards incoming calls to another number if you do not answer within a preset number of rings.

Usage Instructions

To activate the service:

  • Lift the handset and listen for the dial tone.
  • Dial *92..
  • When prompted, enter the number you wish to call forward no answer to.
  • Listen for confirmation, then hang up. Call forward no answer is in effect.

To deactivate the service:

  • Lift the handset and listen for the dial tone.
  • Dial *93.
  • Listen for confirmation, then hang up. Call Forwarding No Answer is now off.

To change the “forward to” number:

  • Lift the handset and listen for the dial tone.
  • Dial *92 followed by the telephone number you wish to call forward no answer to.
  • Listen for confirmation, then hang up. Call forward no answer is in effect.

Note:

  • The number of rings before forwarding is preset by your telephone company. If you would like to change the number of rings, please contact our office for assistance.
  • Dial the number exactly as if you are calling directly. For a local number, dial the 7-digit phone number. For a long-distance number, dial 1 plus the area code.
  • Long distance charges may apply if forwarding to a long-distance number.
  • If you have voicemail, calls may forward to voicemail instead, depending on how your service is set up.
Call Screening - $3.00/month

Call Screening allows you to hear the name of the person calling before you decide whether to answer the call.

How it works:

  • When someone calls you, they will hear a message asking them to say their name.
  • The caller records their name
  • Your phone will ring
  • If you answer, you will hear a message saying:

“You have a call from….”    (You will hear the callers recorded name).

You will be prompted to:

  • Press 1 to accept the call
  • Press 6 to send the call to voicemail (if available),
  • Press 7 to drop the call

If you do not respond, the call will automatically disconnect or forward to voicemail (if set up).

Notes::

If you would like certain callers to bypass Call Screening, please contact our office to add their numbers to your Allowed List.

Call Waiting - $2.00/month

You can use your telephone without missing other calls. A special tone alerts you to a waiting call, the person calling you hears normal ringing.

How to use:

To answer a waiting call:

  • When you are on the phone, a special tone tells you a second call is waiting.
  • Simply press and quickly release the switch-hook* on your telephone. Your first call is automatically placed on hold while you are connected with the second caller.

If you choose not to answer the incoming call:

  • Typically, the call will: Go to voicemail (if you have voicemail service), or\ Continue ringing until the caller hangs up

To alternate between callers:

Simply press and quickly release the switch-hook. While you talk with one caller, the other will automatically be placed on hold. Each conversation remains private.

To end either call:

  • Hang up.
  • Your phone will ring.
  • When you answer, you will be connected with the remaining caller.

To deactivate Call Waiting BEFORE making a call:

  • Lift the handset and listen for the dial tone.
  • Press *70.
  • Listen for the confirmation tone.
  • Dial the telephone number you wish to call. Now your call will not be interrupted by the Call Waiting tone. Other callers will hear a busy signal.
  • After you hang up, Call Waiting automatically activates again.

To deactivate Call Waiting DURING a call:

  • Press and release the switch-hook.
  • Press *70.
  • Listen for the confirmation tone. You will automatically be reconnected to your call.
  • After you hang up, Call Waiting automatically activates again.

Note:

  • You must have Three-Way Calling to deactivate Call Waiting during a call.

*The switch-hook is the button the handset pushes down when you hang up the phone. Some telephones have a Link or Flash key you can press instead.

Calling Name and Number - $5.00/month

When you receive a call, the name and number of the person calling you is shown on your Caller ID display screen.

How to use:

  • When you receive a call, wait until your telephone completes the first ringing signal.
  • The telephone number and the name associated with that number, as listed in telephone company records, will automatically appear on your display screen when available.
  • If you choose to answer the call, the name and number will remain on the screen until you or the caller hangs up.

Note:

  • Subscription to the Calling Name and Number service requires a display telephone or a compatible add-on display unit.
  • Available with Caller ID on Call Waiting.
Caller ID on Call Waiting - $1.00/month

When you receive a call waiting tone, the name and number of the second person calling you displays on your Caller ID display screen.

How to use:

  • When you receive a second call, you will hear a call waiting tone.
  • The telephone number and the name associated with that number, as listed in telephone company records, will automatically appear on your display screen when available.
  • You can decide to answer the second call or continue with your current call and call the other caller back.

Note: Subscription to Caller ID and Call Waiting service is required for the Call Waiting ID to work.

 

Per-Call Blocking - No Charge

By dialing a code before you place a call, you can prevent your number from appearing on the Caller ID display of the person receiving your call.

How to use:

  • Lift the handset and listen for the dial tone.
  • Press *67.
  • Dial the number you are calling as usual.
  • The person you have called will not be able to see your number display on their telephone display screen. Instead, a “P” or “Private” will be displayed.

Notes:

  • You must dial *67 before each call you place otherwise your phone number will be released to the person receiving your call.
Per-Line Blocking - $3.00/month

Provides a permanent private indicator on your phone line. Contact us for more information.

Selective Call Rejection - $2.00/month

When Selective Call Rejection is activated, any phone numbers added to your rejection list will not ring through to your phone. Instead, callers on your list will hear a fast busy signal, indicating that the call cannot be completed.

How to use:

To add or remove number(s) to your list:

  • Please contact our office for assistance.
Teen Line - $3.00/month

Provides a distinctive ringing code on incoming calls using one individual access line. The distinctive ringing code is achieved by assigning an additional telephone number to the access line. Contact us for more information.

Three Way Calling - $2.00/month

Allows you to add a third person to your existing call so all three parties can speak together.

How to use:

To add a third person to your call:

  • Place your first call and wait for the person to answer.
  • Press and quickly release the switch-hook/flash button to place the first person on hold.
  • Listen for the dial tone.
  • Dial the third person’s phone number.
  • When the third person answers, you can talk privately before making it a three-way conversation.
  • To make the three-way connection, press and quickly release the switch-hook/flash button. You can now talk with both people at the same time.

If the third party does not answer:

  • Press and release the switch-hook/flash button again to reconnect with the first caller.
  • If the line is busy or there is no answer, you can return to the original call the same way.

To disconnect: 

  • Simply hang up.
  • If either of the two people hang up, you can continue talking with the remaining person.
Voicemail - $5.95/month

Voicemail allows callers to leave a message when you are unavailable or choose not to answer your phone.  Access your phone messages from home or when you are away. It is simple, convenient, and reliable.
